How to Help Jackson and Josephine County Food Banks

Over 70,0000 people across Josephine and Jackson counties will not receive food stamps if a federal government shutdown continues into November, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services.

Should funding run out at the end of the month, “we will have the greatest hunger catastrophe in America since the Great Depression, and I don’t say that as hyperbole”, said Joel Berg, CEO of Hunger Free America.

Our most vulnerable neighbors are at risk.

We’ve attached a Resource Guide from ODHS for Jackson & Josephine counties. If you download and open it and click the Resource Guide tab and then hit the button at the top of the page that says “Food,” you will see a listing for food banks and pantries in both counties. Please share this info far and wide.

Please donate funds or food items soon. Families receive $314 per month for food assistance through SNAP. For those of us who can afford to do so, please consider a donation of $314 or more to one of the larger organizations listed below. For those of us with more limited income, please donate what you can. If each one of us pitches in, we can help our neighbors make sure they have food on their tables.
